Report From Darwin
So here we are, midway through the trip. We left the Great Barrier Reef a few days ago and flew to Darwin where we've spent a couple days checking out the city, acclimating to some real heat, and reorganizing ourselves for the second half of our trip here in the Northern Territory.
First, a couple pictures:

Fraser Island was fantastic. Wish we had had more than one day there, but it was still fun. We did a 4WD tour along the beach and over the island, caught a scenic 15 minute flight over the island, and then went swimming in a fresh water lake on top of a sand dune in the middle of the island.
As for the Great Barrier Reef... the place was paradise. We spent three and a half days and three nights on Heron Island. The island was only a little more than a mile around and was surrounded by coral reef. We ate ourselves silly at the buffets, snorkeled at the reef's edge (this included swimming with sharks, one of which may have been five feet long), saw boobies (the tropical bird, that is!) and plenty of other birds and marine life. Mary is proud to report she made it through all the boat rides and snorkels without getting sea sick.

Tomorrow we head out from Darwin and into the Outback: Kakadu, Nitmiluk, and then down to Alice Springs and Uluru. Not sure if we'll be in touch again until we get back in October.
We miss you all and hope you're well.

P.S. - yes, Aaron, we did see kangaroos. and marshall, sorry, we've got video but posting small clips from this setup is not happenning
